It was easy to be inspired by palm trees and gentle waves of the magical island of Koh Samui.
The client gave me design “carte blanche” and I was single-handedly managing the project, from concept to completion of the refurb of the Villas.
For all the custom furniture, I contacted a local supplier and requested the outdoor pieces to be manufactured in Teak wood for its rich colour, ageing qualities and resistance to the sun.
Fabrics were sought from no other than the eponymous Thai label, Jim Thompson. Woven with hints of silver and gold threads providing a luxurious feel, I stayed away from their famous silks and looked through their contract collection for durability and long lasting qualities.
Elitis wallcovering was selected and applied in different colours and graphics, in order to give personality to each bedroom.
Initially the spaces were dark and brown. Highlighting the importance of re-energizing by painting the walls white, using bold textures and adding colours to the furniture with brass detailing. With eight Villas in total, one colour was assigned to each Villa, ranging from turquoise blue in Villa Acacia to light green in Villa Bougainvillea.
Last but not least, large hand painted artworks were added by my talented friend and artist, Marie Soliman. These completed the final touches and gave life to these wonderful Villas.
